The Deviant's Palace has existed as part of Midian for as long as anyone can remember, a permanent fixture to the Gothic industrial landscape. It stands tall and proud atop a cliff, over looking the city below. Many of those who dwell in Midian dare not venture near to the palace, believing it to have been built using the darkest of magic. This may well be true, the palace does indeed possess unusual qualities...
It is said to have been built as a gift, an offering of peace from the King of Midian himself to the Emperor of an allied layer... The construction was impeccable, the detail exquisite, a perfect gift for a man of utmost royalty. Not surprisingly the Emperor was most impressed, residing in the palace when political deeds brought him back to Midian, his home away from home. But these days of peace were not to last...
It is a known fact that Midian exists as part of its King, almost alive, an entity dependant on his existence. The palace was no exception to this bizarre and complex bond. The King became restless in the confines of his layer, frustrated that although he inhabits a crossroads into all other layers, he himself is restricted to Midian alone. As his power and anger grew, the King began to find ways of slowly moving into other worlds, like a creeping plague his arms extended to clutch and choke each new layer, claiming it as his own and expanding his boarders. The first to suffer were Midian's allies, easily accessible to the King and his power mad delusions. The deadly palace became the Emperor's prison, keeping him from his people and his armies his layer quickly fell to the reach of Midian. The city soon came to reflect its King, dark and twisted, this including the palace, it became a being acting separately on its own accord...
Rumours say the death of the Emperor was an act carried out by the palace itself, within its walls he fell prey to the sorcery that was poured into its construction. The palace had lain dormant for many years to follow, housing no one, purposeless and forgotten until chance would have it fall into the hands of one of Hells most infamous generals, Lord Draxus. It is only now that the building is coming back to life. Inhabitants tell stories of it's shifting halls and corridors, its vanishing rooms and strange apparitions...
