Khailyn clutched at a bunch of sprouting dry roots protruding from the rocky surface she was attempting to climb. The old dead plant snapped and crumbled into dust sending Khai hurtling back to wards the ground. With sheer luck she manages to grab a slab of jutting rock, heaving herself onto the ledge it had formed. There she sits, looking out over the city of damned and vile creatures who had lost there paths and found themselves aimlessly wandering the dark streets of Midian. Much like herself...
The tears begin to fall, slowly at first until a torrent streams down her reddened cheeks. "What now??" She cries. What now could she do in her situation? How to escape this horrendous place? She missed the sunshine and warmth of her own world. In this realm, fear was never far off, it grew out of all the cracks in the walls and streets like a relentless weed, choking the inhabitants. No where was safe. You either succumb to the paranoia or the fear bends the soul into a new being, the madness soon follows.
Khai sniffs, detesting the very site of the industrial glow seeping up from the city like toxic vapors, tainting the night sky overhead. She forces back the tears, picks herself up and begins to climb what she thought was an enormous cliff that would surely lead to the fringes of this realm once she had reached the top? That's if she ever made it up there... Climbing was not one of Khai's strongest talents....

Aiwas sits atop the cliff, his once serene blue eyes now bloodshot with tears. The wind picks at his unkempt blonde hair, strands stuck to his wet cheeks, his young and once beautiful face now drawn and grey.
He was once a General of Hell. He was once secondary to Lord Draxus. How he hated to think of him now. He had cast Aiwas aside as if worthless, and to think... He had given him his soul. He had given him his will and worth, for nothing.
He gritted his teeth, a sudden laugh escaping him as he lay back, eyes giving off a bright blue glow as he stares into the skies of Midian, that smog-drenched and humid atmosphere. A grin quickens his lips, the tears stopping. He had been lapsing in and out of consciousness and sanity for many months during his wandering. He had slain many creatures, taking from them their souls and abilities.
Then, after many moons of his wandering - he had felt it.
Draxus had been killed.
Aiwas took another long drink from his hip flask. He has no idea what is within, but it kept him drunk.

Khailyn scrambled over the top of what she was climbing, looking back down at the thing it became apparent the huge rock was some monumental statue of a face, Khai had been perched on the nose... With aching limbs and lungs she collapses to her knees... Out in front of her, spread across a barren landscape was a sea of abandoned ruins almost matching the size of Midian City itself... Was this damned place inescapable??
She would have slept right there, letting the creeping fatigue wash over her entirely, were it not for the overwhelming sense that someone was close by... Hauling herself once more to her feet Khailyn steps toward the sound of faintly clinking metal. Any normal person would have kept themselves to themselves in this place and just moved on, but Khai was of the curious type and couldn't let this go undetected.
Cautiously she follows the sound to a lump of pale rock and gingerly peers around it. A rather beautiful, if not a little disheveled, looking man sat with his back against the rock, slumped there cradling a silver hip flask. Clearly he was drunk and the stench of alcohol knocked Khailyn right in the nose... But there was something about this man that meant she didn't fear him, perhaps it was his undeniable beauty or his pitiful state, she wasn't sure...
"You...ok?" Khailyn asks quietly, still half concealed to him by the rock... She wasn't entirely sure that he heard her...

Aiwas hears the muffled sound of a girl speaking through his alcohol-induced deafness. His once deep blue eyes, now ripped with broken blood vessels, move to Khai slowly.
"Do I look... Ok..?"
He doesn't say this harshly, but more of a true question, as if he had lost sense of how he should in fact look.
He stands, in a stumbling sort of way, steadying himself and a sharp rock and cutting his hand in the process. He remains unaware of this however as he attempts a step toward Khailyn.
"Are you human?" He leans back on the sharp rock now, closing his eyes, the last of his recent tears falling as he does.
"You are... I can always tell... I love your people... I watched them, long ago, tried to guide them... I was dubbed an angel..."
He sighs, opening his eyes, which seem to glow a little now.
"A story for another time perhaps... But now would be a good time to hear yours, I have rarely seen humanity here, other than that Sorcerer, you must be afraid..." He attempts a smile.

Khailyn stares at the creature, half bewildered and half captivated. An Angel, yes, he certainly looked as Khai would imagine Angels to look... if Angels ever got drunk. She shakes the notion from her head, stepping out from behind the rock. "I think... that I am human" She says slowly, in answer to his question. The blue of his eyes was dazzling, even if the alcohol had stained the white to red. She plays with the strap of her satchel, watching him rise.
It was true, she was afraid. But his tone seemed tender and his expressions kind, it seemed to melt the fear.... "And I think... that you are an Angel" Khailyn nods then notices the blood from his hand. Immediately she begins rummaging through her bag, finding a small pack of tissues and handing it to him with a smile. "Why are you drunk all the way out here?" She asks innocently, knitting her eyebrows and steering the conversation from herself...

Aiwas sinks to the ground, his eyes closing over as he lets out a deep sigh, a silent stream of tears beginning once again.
"I have been... Rejected from my home... I am a demon... Of Hell, not an Angel..."
He looks up at Khai now, expecting her to move away at his words...
"I was born in Heaven though, and when this fact came to the attention of... My superior..." He pauses, anger flickering about him now... "Draxus... He cast me away, told me I was tainted, that I was untrustworthy, that I was a spy and that he would obliterate me if he ever saw me again..."
He turns away, shaking...
"And to think... I... I..." Another sigh, a little calmer. "I wander now, I have nowhere to go, I am just another lost being in Midian. I yearn for revenge but I am not strong enough, if you choose to stand against him you fight all his army, and I cannot win."

Khailyn bites her quivering bottom lip. Of all the people to run into she just had to bump into a former servant of the creature she had just torn apart with her mind alone... She swallows the rising fear in her throat, "I think... I heard somewhere... that this Lord Draxus you speak of... he is dead..." She says hesitantly, careful of what to reveal... Her expression is lost in thought for a moment, her eyes some place far away. At last she seems to blink herself back to reality, staring at the angelic demon before her.
"Besides, he must be a fool. It's not where we come from that matters, it's where we are going" Khailyn nods, wondering secretly to herself if she really did beleive that as she kneels beside Aiwas offering to take his hand in hers so that she may clean his wound.

Aiwas freezes at her words...
"Dead..? That doesn't make sense..."
He closes his eyes, his head bowing a little before he takes Khai's hand...
"You... How do you know? Who did it..? This is bad... He returns... He will be remade and he will open the gates and Midian will be destroyed... We have to leave!"
His mind cracks further. His master... His love, dead... He stumbles again, almost falling into Khai.
"I..."
More tears, grinding of teeth... But breathe, and calm...
"I must regain myself, these times will become dark, more so than normal, we have to get into the city, but away from the Palace... No doubt his pets will be searching, and most likely Lunavyre will be on the rampage also."

Khailyn clutches at the stumbling Aiwas, but her mind is so numb, her limbs too shaky that she buckles and falls to her knees, staring blankly at the void before her... "Return...?" She utters... "Oh god, I've done a terrible thing. I did it, Aiwas! I don't know how but it was me, he just.... came apart and there was blood... dear god, so much blood and..." She claps her hands to her mouth, the words just seemed to tumble out...
Khai turns to Aiwas, to fathom his expression should she need to flee from him quickly... Her lips quiver, she tries to speak but typically now the words wont come...
