Name: Stasia Cortet (Stah-see-uh)
Age: 150+
Species: Vampire
Profile: Despite her age, she looks only to be in her early twenties. She's somewhat thinner-looking than her actual weight would suggest, but quite strong. She has light skin; from far away, she almost looks like a porcelain doll. A bit of a disinterested or somber expression is constantly on her face, but she has a beautiful smile when she's enjoying herself.
On her chest is a large, black hole that she acquired from a stabbing she received just before becoming a vampire. On her right shoulder blade is a small burn in the shape of a cross with the markings of a vampire slaying sect on it. Stasia keeps both hidden as well as she can.
Her attire is usually as shown above. Although, while doing housework, she will be dressed in a white, long sleeve, button-down shirt and black skirt extending to just her knee. Her nails are painted red.
Other Forms: Stasia can also take the form of mist.
Weapons: When on a mission, she will generally carry a long, concealed dagger, but even when she's off, Stasia always has a 10 foot, brown lion tamer's whip on her hip. You can never be too careful.
Magic: Include super strength, super speed, and heightened senses.
Mesmerize. -- When staring into her eyes, she can put any victim into a state of submission, bending people to her will. Similar to hypnotism, it can also control people without them remembering. Normally used for hunting prey, and only works on the weak-minded, usually humans.
Shadow Magic. -- The ability to manipulate her shadow and the shadows of others to create an illusion around them. This can be anything to something slithering on the ground or an entire enviroment around her prey. Uses a lot of energy, but worth it during a particularly busy hunt.
Binding. -- Often mistaken for siring another vampire, this is when blood is exchanged to instill a mental connection with another person. This can give whoever she is bound with some of her strength and speed, or allow her to adapt their memories and personality. This is generally used to let each other know what the other is feeling or if in trouble. (Only done to two people with Stasia.)
Personality: Stasia is a bit bitter most of the time, and considering her past, she’s entitled to it. Her pride can get in the way of the choices she makes, and can be fuel to burn a generally mild temper. Like any vampire though, she can have a mischievous, violent streak. She'll occasional play with her food, enjoying a quick, and rather sadistic game of cat and mouse before dinner. If angered, she isn’t too likely to let anyone off without some form of torture, such as burning or a good whipping.
Despite her sadistic and bitter side, she was still human at one point and retains a bit of mercy. Occasionally, the normal, shy young lady she once was will appear and she can be found smiling sincerely. It’s hard for her to warm up to people, but when she does, she holds them very dear.
Stasia loves going for walks through the city, and being outside, not to mention the hunt and the thrill of the chase. She loves music and likes to indulge in ballet, but only in private. Her favorite animals are snakes.
Her dislikes include mostly children; she doesn’t hate them, but she doesn’t like being around them if she can help it. She has a deep loathing for slayers of any kind, especially vampire slayers. Among other things she dislikes are enclosed spaces and condescending attitudes.
History: Stasia came from a large family of none children. Being the oldest, she had to take over the role of the maternal figure at age ten when her mother died under mysterious circumstances. She continued to mother her siblings for several years, some of them eventually calling her “Mama.” Her father worked often, yet gambled nightly, which left the rest of the family in poor living conditions for a long time. She began to grow bitter toward her family, even though she loved all of them very much. Because her brothers and sisters needed her to care for them, she spent most of her time inside the house, cooking and sewing and teaching. Stasia rarely had time for herself outside the house, other than going into town for food or supplies. Up until her twenties, she hadn’t had much contact with the outside world, never even being courted by a man.
When she was 23, she made an errand into town late at night for some bread and milk. While on her way home, she passed an alley, in which were several vampire slayers waiting for her. When she’d passed, they jumped her, thinking she was a vampire. Once they realized their mistake, it was already too late for the poor girl, so they left her there in the alley with a stake through the chest. Eventually, when the group of slayers left, the vampire they had originally been tracking came to her side. The vampire, a woman, asked if she was willing to become like her and continue to live on. In return for giving her new life and teaching her the skill of her vampirism, Stasia would be a servant to the woman and her kin until they saw fit for her. Of course, Stasia accepted.
She abandoned her family then to move with her new master, the vampiress Marina**, and new “family.” There she discovered a kind of puppy love for another fledgling who, like herself, had suffered near-death due to the carelessness of a group of slayers. The two immediately found a kinship, spending long nights of their new lives together, though Stasia was still a servant to her masters and spent much of it doing chores. After only three years of service, another group of vampire slayers came to their covenant to destroy them all, ripping the two apart. Stasia and other fledglings hid in the basement for two days while their masters fought. Unfortunately, the elders fell and the slayers raided their hiding place, killing nearly all of them. Stasia and three other vampires were able to make a getaway without much damage though, escaping to another covenant.
The other three fledglings decided to form their own new family, but Stasia decided she would like to travel around on her own to see the world she never knew during her non-existent childhood. She went from vampire house to house, working as a housekeeper for room and board. On the side, she accepted work as a mercenary to hone her dark skills.
Recently having finished a merc mission in Midian, she's taken up another job as housekeeping, but has found that there are many people who are willing to pay generously to get rid of a certain bother.
