Luna crashes through the huge dominant windows of the study, hitting the floor with a sickening thud. Her wings spread out around her, the feathers tattered and broken. Three weeks she has spent in the skies, circling the deepest caverns of Midian, the waste lands, the city... Like a ravenous vulture awaiting her meal. Scouring the landscape for any sign that might reveal her prey, the human, Khailyn...
Luna struggles to sit up, forcing her aching limbs to respond. Her wings will not move, paralysed with exhaustion she simply lets them hang limp around her shoulders. Her eyes make out the blurry outline of her Lord's study and suddenly her brain shifts into gear. With a frantic urgency she hauls herself up onto trembling legs.
It must be here, the ethereal Katana, Blood Moon, her Lord and Master's weapon of choice, what perfect way to avenge him than to slice open his killer with his own blade?
Luna turns to begin her search when a glass cabinet in the corner of the dark room catches her eye, a soft silver glow emanates from it. Could it really be? Drax's collection of artifacts once in the possession of Heaven and Hell's most infamous Angel.... Lucifer? Her eyes shining, she licks her lips and carefully touches the glass door. Locked. Of course... Luna grabs an alabaster ornament from nearby and plunges it into the glass sending a cascade of shards to the carpet below.
In the centre of the case stands a metal plinth with what appears to be a broken mask mounted to it. Most of the pieces seem to be there except perhaps one or two missing from the centre and the left eye.
With trembling hands she lifts the mask from its display, holding it with intense trepidation. The Arch Angel mask of Lucifer, shattered to pieces when he fell from Heaven... It is entirely plain and featureless but that takes nothing away from its obvious beauty. No holes for a mouth or eyes, except for the missing shards... Luna presses it to her face where it remains without any straps or latch... At once the jolt of power surges through her soul, convincing her she is invincible.
Luna strides to the broken windows, standing at the edge and watching the rain streak the black sky. Something was taking over... Her one visible eye flashes glassy in the moonlight before she takes to the cold, night air once more...
