Name: Lotsiel Ashghost. In her cat-form she becomes known as Merryl, and since her time of transformation she has generally gone by this name.
Pronunciation: (Lot-SEE-el ASH-ghost , Meh-RILL)
Age: 36, this age is irrelevant, being only an indication of the number of years she has walked the earth. In her true form, she appears as if she has just entered womanhood.
Gender: Female.
Species: half blood- half Elvin, half Vampire.
Profile:Due to a curse placed upon her, Lotsiel went through some period of time as a white cat. Although Ophria was able to lift this curse to some degree, Lotsiel continues to transform when under great stress. She hopes in time to gain control over this, either remaining in her half-elf form permanently or being able to transform at will.
Lotsiel:
Height: Five foot four inches.
Weight: Lotsiel was always slightly thicker set than the elves around her, whilst they were willowy and elegant, that Vampiric part of her filled her out slightly. Taken away from other elves, Lotsiel would be of a slightly slimmer build than the average human although not notable at 8stone.
Hair: Her hair is a very light ash-blonde, thick and luxuriant, falling in gentle waves down her back, normally half of it gathered away from her face for comfort.
Eyes: A dark green, flecked with shards of amber about the iris.
Skin Tone: Her skin tone is the natural varying olive hues of Earth-elves, though lighter, paler, as if Lotsiel’s skin exists in a parody of shades compared to a true-blood. This has given her appearance an ethereal quality, hence ‘Ashghost’ as part of her name.
General Appearance: Lotsiel is the typical proud elf, with her supercilious gaze and slightly pouting mouth. Her Elvin features are softer, less prominent, her ears rising to soft points, and her face slightly more rounded. She appears mostly slightly forlorn, but there is a sharp intelligence and laughter behind those green eyes.
Style of Dress: Lotsiel prefers long, bulky skirts in the darkest shades, with thick rings of embroidery decorating the hems, her blouses too large and tied in place with thick decorative ribbons, the long strands of silk and fine wool hanging down to the length of the skirts. She normally wears shawls and other layers to keep her warm, and thick jewellery at her throat and wrists. She normally carries a wide-brimmed hat, the ribbon tied about her neck so the hat rests on her back, only putting it on in full sunlight. The dappled shadows of trees in which she spent most of her childhood never really presented the half-vampire a problem, but it would be uncomfortable to be caught out. She can also often be seen to be carrying a large satchel, at odds with the rest of her appearance. This is stuffed with handkerchiefs, sweets, herbs, notebooks, pens, pencils, dried fruit, scraps of newspapers, paperclips, and interesting leaves or pebbles.
Merryl:
General Appearance: Merryl is a very small white cat, with the same green eyes as her true form. Her fur has a hint of blondness to it about her paws, tips of ears and tip of tail, but for the most part she is white.
Her tail is thick and curved, her ears small and pointed, and her stance just as proud as a cat as it ever was when she was in her true form.
Weapons (Optional): Needs to visit weapons hall.
Magic (Optional): Merryl can use magic to a middling degree, being skilled in more delicate and intricate works of sorcery. Her main skill is Healing, which she takes great pride in.
Personality: Merryl is proud, kind, naive and slightly awkward in some social situations. She has a streak of mischief, but this is normally subdued within her, able to overcome the temptation of making trouble. This mischief is more apparent in her cat-form, and directly afterwards.
Her normal reaction to people is kindness, and she likes making friends, although her aloof air occasionally presents difficulties. Down-to-earth and practical, Merryl remains calm in emergencies, and can be depended upon as far as her capabilities extend.
Times of great stress provoke the transformation from half-breed to small cat. Along with the physical change comes a lighter, yet crueller, personality; self-centred and playful, the cat juxtaposes the more tempered and practical half-breed side.
History: Nesella – Lotsiel’s mother – had been a travelling healer all her life, returning to the village only occasionally, upon her travels she fell in love with a kind and generous man, Nesella cared little for his human species – or at least what she thought to be human – and cared equally little for any precautions during their love-making. The dual results were Nesella finding out on his true species, and pregnancy.
She was concerned, not so much for the species hybrid, but that her child would not be able to walk in the sunlight, or appreciate the taste of the forest, of the earth.
Lotsiel was therefore a welcome relief. The girl was large and healthy, with a love of the outdoors. Nesella settled down in the village on a permanent basis to rear Lotsiel, and gave the girl all the love she could.
Lotsy grew strong and tall, an athlete and doubly good at her learning. But there was always the question of her heritage. Her name she chose was Ashghost, which suited her pale appearance all too well, and that she tired in the sunlight, wandering the village at night as a result. However, she was a cheerful child, reasonably popular, and had a natural gift for healing, both with traditional methods and the simple magical forms her mother was able to teach her. Her greatest desire was to travel to Tear, and there gain all the knowledge of Healing the Sorcerers could give her.
As puberty set in, a different kind of desire filled Lotsiel. Whilst the other girls were trying to work out whom they wanted to kiss the most, she found herself wondering what it would be like to taste blood that wasn’t her own. The thought turned into desire, which immediately turned into an obsession of longing and suppression.
In the end, she succumbed to this desire, causing problems, and her mother explained carefully why this was, and why now, it was time for her to leave. She gave Lotsy enough money to get by on for a while, charms to sell for extra, and instructions to get to the linked realm of Midian. “They have all manners of beasts there my girl. You can get yourself educated and perhaps even cured.” She meant, of course, of being a Vampire.
Her arrival to the city was frightening, nearly getting mugged after exiting the portal.
She worked in various meaningless, low-paid jobs over the years, washing dishes, serving customers. Lotsiel grew bored of her existence, hating the darkness of the city, the temptation of flesh.
One day the temptation overcame her, and she bit into the soft and yielding flesh of a young man, who was evidently displeased with her antics and called his Mistress upon her. The creature put a curse on Lotsiel, turning her into a small white (dumb) cat.
The random and subsequent finding of Orpheus, who made her into a familiar gave Lotsy back the power of speech though limited knowledge of her past life - only that she is cursed and needs to have it lifted.
The little cat developed a soft spot for Orpheus and also wanted to get the curse lifted in an attempt to seduce him.
Ophria broke the curse upon Merryl, and she reclaimed herself as Lotsiel Ashghost.
