Luna slumped into the over-sized chair at the head of the table swinging her legs over one of the arms and staring down the length of the table. The palace was quiet as always, her Lord away again on some secret business that she would supposedly never understand. The pain of his detachment made it harder and harder for Luna to be in the palace, she would often find herself wandering into the Hellish city below to mingle with the common vampires, drunk on young blood. It was shameful but it was this animal instinct that helped her forget about him for just a while.
A long sigh escapes her and she folds her arms aggressively across her stomach. Somewhere a door clicks and lights a fleeting spark of excitement in her. But it couldn't be him, not yet, he was always gone a good three days at a time, sometimes more to further torment her.
Luna sits at the table for hours, staring mindlessly at the grain of the wood and tracing the lines as far as her keen, amethyst eyes would allow. Boredom was so very under-rated as a form of torture, but in Luna's case it was effective. The almost constant absence of Lord Draxus did something to her sanity, made her pace in the dark and sit quietly for hours on end. Like a dog awaiting its master she craved the moment he would return, to receive the degrading pat on the head that made her so unbelievably happy...
Luna swung her legs round to the appropriate position, wanting to stand but found no motivation to do so... She would wait, for as long as it took for her Lord to return... But in the mean while, their was always the Elf...

Orpheus had worked hard for his food today, apparantly there was some kind of crop famine, and his Landlady expected twice the bloody work for half the food. His stomach was growling, as he had to share what he got with his familiar, Merryl.
The white cat, luckily, supplimented her diet with mice she caught, which was something.
Orpheo had thought to visit the palace to see if he could get something to eat, and perhaps, see if there was anything that could be done food wise. Too many of Midian's population relied on the blood of those who lived to let the 'cattle' die.
He entered the dining hall with Merryl stalking ahead, singing a song about losing her sweetheart to the mighty sea's rath. Where did she learn such things?
Inside he was plesantly surprised to see Luna, he had seemed to miss her every time he came here.
He gave a wave, with a smile, "Luna! How are you?" Before sitting down, Merryl jumping up on his lap protectively.

Having sat in the silence for such a long time Luna was starteled at the appearance of the Elf, Orpheus. She gave a weak smile and sits up straight in her Masters chair, as if she were receiveing a subject or something. She gives an odd sort of look to the cat that accompanies him having never seen it before. Luna had never had a pet and never understood the need for one, she hated feeling obligated to look after anyone but Lunavyre.
The kitchen far behind her made soft noises, preparing a meal that nobody was likely to eat... Perhaps Orpheus would want to feed himself, or his cat... She nods to him as the elf sits beside her and she again manages a smile, fuller this time. "Hello Orpheus, what brings you to the palace?" Her voice is oddly smooth and she tents her gloved hands, the fabric for the fingers missing to allow for better mobility. Her pose resembles that of a business woman questioning a client, deep eyes fixed on Orpheus with an unrelenting gaze. A closer inspection might reveal the slow erosion of sanity to anyone close enough to catch a glimpse of the Luna inside...

Orpheus opened his mouth to reply, but Merryl jumped up onto the table, slinking up to Luna and squinting her blue eyes, the same twilight blue as Orpheo's, saying, "This is Luna? You didn't say she was-"
But neither Orpheus nor Lunavyre found out Merryl's opinion, as Orpheo had casually grabbed her thick, white tail and pulled her forcefully onto his lap, accompianied by a screech from his protesting familiar.
He grinned, apologising. "Sorry Luna. She's been terrible lately. I mean, worse than terrible, if that's possible?"
Orpheo wiped at the table cloth with his hand, as if to dislodge all traces of the animal.
He looked up and met those eyes, jewels, to him, and something different to the last time they met. "Well, I've come begging, to be honest, I'm hungry and tired. I can tell you this though, it's all the better for seeing you. How are you feeling?" He asked, with elaborate casualness. He had seen this expression in his wife before, this was when she might be trying to find out if he were up to no good, which he never was, but she still tried to find out. He only hoped he had not done something Luna would disapprove of.

Luna stares at the cat, trance like, seemingly mesmerised throughout the Elf's reply, her eyes only fall on him a good few seconds after he is finished. She blinks slowly and takes a deep breath... "The kitchens are preparing... something, I don't know what" Her vacant eyes search his face, his features are kind and confused and Luna liked that... Then why was it that she melted at the site of the cruel and sharp expressions of her Lord? It was sickening! She could take him now, lean across the table and kiss his lips, sink her fangs into elven flesh to extract the blood, so thick with earthly magic... The animal was surfacing again...
Luna leans back in the enormous chair, again swinging her legs over the arm, the long sharp heels of her boots jutting out dangerously. She couldn't take the elf, to do so would leave her utterly alone... Instead she grins fondly at him. "Is there anything in particular that you fancy, Orpheus...?"

Orpheus's indigo eyes flickered for one moment to her prone form, to her legs and revealed figure before he caught himself and re-affirmed his gaze onto her face. Merryl's purr from his stroking turned slightly deeper, almost a growl, and the bands of silver about his throat and wrists turned cold.
Someone meant him harm.
This was not as unusual in Midian as he had first thought, and in fact Orpheus had taken it to be a mild discomfort rather than a warning system. It had become a flawed alarm.
Though Luna's question, laden with suggestion, turned his icy skin to fire, but Orpheo's expression remained deadpan. He was not going to fall for this, he had tried with Luna, and whilst he knew his love for her was real and could not be erased so easily, he was not going to risk the rath of Draxus just to steal a kiss, or rise to such bait.
He reached over to the fruit bowl on the table, piled high with an exotic variety of mostly things Orpheus couldn't name.
He selected a few cherries, something that seemed to be common from his world and this one, before picking one off the stem and chewing, his tongue finding the stone and deftly flicking it out onto his hand. It reminded him of his childhood, him and Nymella sitting on the edge of the woods, spitting out the stones and seeing how far they could get them. It made him smile, something utterly unconnected to the present situation with Luna.
"Perhaps." He answered lightly, "What I particularly want is completely unobtainable, and dangerous too, so it might be better to go without." There. He was not such the fool. Well, perhaps he was, but he could still hold some level of control.

Luna watches the elf, eating the fruit with such delicate manner. Food was something she didn't need to survive, but she could still enjoy it and it fascinated her to see others devour it hungrily. She too reaches for the bowl and pulls from the mountain of fruit a waxy orange.
Luna listens to Orpheus's strange answer and smiles playfully. She wasn't foolish, the elf was of course referring to her, he had admitted this odd infatuation a while ago. "Unobtainable and dangerous? This sounds a very strange dish indeed..." Her lips pout and her eyes wander the ceiling as if in thought... "Perhaps a humble bowl of stew or soup is what you need?" Again she grins, throwing the perfectly rounded orange high into the air and catching it, the flesh slapping into her palm...
Boredom would take her again were it not for the prospect of watching the elf eat. Simplicity was better than nothingness, Luna had had enough of that...

As if Luna's words were a summons, an eldery kitchen maid came shuffling out. Her left eye was blinded, and Orpheo suddenly wished that he was better at healing, because it looked so dreadful on her weathered, lined face. His contempt for humans had died down over time, where they were no immediate threat. These humans, at least, did not make war on him or his kind.
She was carrying a tureen of Luna's words, which she placed down with trembling, arthritic hands. Orpheo nodded his thanks in silence, and with equal lack of noise she exited.
He flicked off the lid with a precise, deft and somewhat delicate movement, revealing the smell of thick soup, heavily spiced. His mouth filled with saliva, and he wasted no time in helping himself to a bowl and spooning out a healthy portion. Merryl sighed and slinked off his lap to find better prospects in the palace.
Orpheus was slightly strange amongst his people, as he had a taste for meat, when most shunned it, finding it overly elaborate to catch, prepare and then season. Folk here seemed to eat it daily, which was a luxury in Orpheo's mind.
He had never worked out cutlery either, and sipped at the rim of the bowl. It was hot, burning his tongue slightly, but he swallowed it regardless, feeling the satisfying sense of it hitting his empty stomach.
Orpheo felt in a far metter mood at the feeling, and grinned towards Luna. "You may have a point." Yes, she was more distant than Orpheo had ever seen her. He used to think he could coax her out of dark moods, but he had rid himself of that delusion of late. Now was a prime example.
"You aren't hungry?" He questioned, continuing to eat. In truth it was a little odd being scutinised as he ate, but Orpheo wasn't one to feel self concious about such trivial matters.

Luna watched the Elf as he poured out the stew for himself so eloquently and precisely, and then with hungry enthusiasm, devour the contents without even touching the unnecessary large amount of spoons provided.
It was horrible! But incredible... Her eyes scanning him intently, watching every movement with deep fascination. "Yes..." She says at last, voice dry and quiet, causing her to clear her throat "Yes, perhaps I am hungry" In a dream like manner, Luna reaches for the ladle and fills a bowl with the dark, rich broth, a smell so over whelming to her vampirically heightened senses it made her stomach lurch and her throat close...
Luna pokes at the tender meat, the soft suet dumplings while Orpheus eagerly consumes this pungent concoction, however, her mind is far from stew, her attention falls on Elf's neck, the artery so faint beneath skin... There was no desperate thirst that she suffered, but rather a dark animal desire... Her eyes dart away from the elf, to the figure passing briefly past the doorway behind him... The girl, brown hair and glasses, the one her Lord had personally invited here...

Orpheus sighed, setting down his bowl. Luna was most definitely not in a good mood, and there was something else as well. His bracelet and necklet was still cold, icy. Was she really that angry at him? He asked her directly, "Why are you wishing me harm, Luna? Have I done something so terrible? If I have I'd rather you say it, I'm freezing myself to death here." ~*~ Merryl had strayed off from his line of sight, and had found Khailyn, whom she hardly knew but knew better than the crazy demon angel. Ye Gods! What Orpheus saw in the woman was beyond her. Why couldn't he just summon her properly and she would certainly keep his bed a bit warmer than she did certainly. Khailyn, also, was not completely mental. She purred, rubbing herself against the girl's legs in the most cat like fashion she could manage.

Luna is rather taken a-back by his words, what harm could she mean him? Unless...? The Elf's magic was picking up on her desires, yes, perhaps so... Her glazed eyes blink very slowly as she watches him... "I believe Lilith has just entered the Palace, perhaps it is she who means you harm" She cannot help a snarl at the thought of Lilith anywhere near her home, her Lord, her... Orpheus?
Somewhat less distant Luna rises from her Lord's seat and steps away from it, saying with her eyes fixed forward "I think I want to go to bed... But I don't want you to leave..." Her gaze falls on the kind features of the Elf... "I don't want to be alone, it's driving me mad..." With that said, Luna drifts mindlessly from the Hall and to her room...

Orpheus sighed. He looked at the half-eaten bowl of food a moment in forlorn contemplation, before he ran after Lunavyre, catching up to her but not knowing what to say.
"Luna?!" He called out, catching her arm with his hand. He noted how delicate her limbs were, how his hand encirlcled her wrist so very easily.
"Luna." He repeated, softly. "Look. I'm here. You aren't alone. Remember what I said? I'm always here for you." He tilted his head as he looked into her eyes, wanting to comfort her in a way he knew was forbidden. But he could still be her friend, and was determined to stay that way.

It was hard not to like Orpheus, and Luna couldn't help but smile sympathetically at him. She figured she was to him what Draxus was to her... and that somehow made her feel quite powerful... But she would never use it like He did, would she?
"I know, but you're not here, here in the Palace. I'm lonely, Orpheus, and you know who it is I miss so much but I simply can't take it any more. This place is too huge for me alone..."
Luna slips her wrist from his hand and smiles again, wearily. "I want to sleep now, Good night, Orpheus." She resumes her path to her room, ascending the great stair case and disappearing into the darkened coridors...

Orpheus turned away from her. He could hardly take up residency here in the Palace, Draxus would never allow it. And, he berated himself, he was too proud to beg.
But his eyes lingered on her form. It was impossible not to be taken in by her beauty, and Orpheus genuinely worried for her, it all mixed together to make him feel frustrated, useless.
He half-whispers after her, "Good night Luna." Before retreating into another room
